This was a totally experimental recipe by my mother – and the result was scrumptious buns which are impossible to resist!
Makes 18 buns
Preparation time: 10-15 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- 6 oz self raising flour
- 2 eggs
- 5 oz chopped cooking apple
- 4 oz margarine
- 4 oz castor sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp cinnamon
To Cook:
- Cream together the sugar and margarine
- Into a separate bowl sieve the flour, baking powder and spices
- Add the prepared flour into the creamed mixture and fold together
- Beat the eggs, and add to the mixture. Mix thoroughly
- Add the chopped apple and milk and mix well
- Spoon the mixture into bun cases and bake on a baking tray in a preheated oven at 220˚C/425˚ F/Gas 7 for 15-20 minutes
