One day I experimented with oats and grated apple in my meatballs and it went down a treat! Everyone loved it, and it’s been a family favourite ever since!
Serves 6
Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 454g SuperValu mince
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium apple, grated
- 250g Flahavan’s Oatlets or similar
- 1 egg, beaten
- Good pinch of mixed herbs
- 1 packet oxtail or tomato Soup or your own favourite pasta sauce
To Cook:
- Preheat the oven to 180˚C
- Mix the mince, onion, apple, oatlets and herbs in a large bowl.
- Add the beaten egg and mix again.
- Shape the mixture into balls and brown them lightly in a frying pan.
- Transfer the meatballs into an ovenproof dish.
- Make up the soup and pour this, or your own pasta sauce over the meatballs.
- Cook in the oven for approx 30 minutes.
- Serve with pasta.
