Spiced Red Cabbage
Serves 6
Ingredients:
800g red cabbage, shredded
½ onion, thinly sliced
1 SuperValu Cooks’ Ingredients Cinnamon stick
1 tsp ground nutmeg
6 SuperValu Cooks’ Ingredients Whole Cloves
75ml SuperValu Cooks’ Ingredients Red Wine Vinegar
70g brown sugar
350g cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
SuperValu Cooks’ Ingredients Sea Salt and Ground Black Pepper
Method:
Place butter in a pan, add shredded cabbage and onion, stir well and cook for a few minutes to soften. Season with salt and pepper and christmas spices. Then pour in the red wine vinegar and sugar and allow to cook for a further 5 minutes. Then add in the apples on top, cover and leave for 10 minutes. Then after the 10 minutes remove the lid, stir and leave to cook for another 10 minutes.
